The Corn Wife

In the village of Lower Thorpe they have not had a failed harvest in two hundred years, and every August they crown a Corn Wife to thank the fields. Folklorist Hester Wynne arrives to record the custom and slowly understands that the village is not thanking the fields. It is paying them.
