Week One

The thing about detention is its always the same five people and you all pretend not to know that. Mr Calloway sat at the front marking papers and didnt even look up. There was the loud one, Bex, who got detention for arguing, which is funny because arguing is just talking and they put you in a room for it. There was Dre who never said why he was there. There was Saskia who cried the first time and then never again. There was the new kid whose name I didnt learn for three weeks because nobody talked. And there was me. I had a book but I didnt read it, I just held it, because a book is a good thing to hold when you dont want anyone to talk to you. The clock in 4B is broken. It says ten past four forever. I think thats kind of perfect actually for a detention room.
